Second Position

Leotard, shorts, convertible pink tights, leg warmers & ballet slippers

My order from Discount Dance came pretty quickly. It also brought some lessons with it. First one: ballet slippers are not sold in street shoe sizes. I normally wear a size 9.5/10 in Women, but I ordered a 7.5, as the site said most order their ballet slippers 2-3 sizes smaller.

The ballet slippers are Bloch split sole canvas slippers and are a little snug around my toes. I’m not sure if this is normal or not, since the only other non-street shoe I have to compare the fit to is my snowboard boots. My snowboard boots are snug on my toes, for more control of my board.

I guess a trip to a dance store to have my feet measured is in order. Second lesson? I thought I was getting over by buying shoes with elastic already attached, WRONG! I still have to sew the elastic to the back of the shoe. Oh and the third thing I learned? Tape your leotard to your butt, so that it doesn’t ride up.

    Hi!
Haha I should try taping my leotard to my butt and see how that works out :D
Your ballet slippers will wear out over time. Especially when you go on demi-pointe, the material will stretch. So it should be snug when you just buy it!
